20 Minutes to Increase your Reach to Real Estate Investors with a Facebook Page
What is a Facebook Business Page?
A Facebook Page is a public Facebook account that can be used by brands, organizations, and public figures. Even if you are not a fan of social media, due to the amount of people on Facebook, having a business presence there enables more potential commercial real estate borrowers find you. As you increase your followers, you also increase perceived credibility from potential borrowers or even commercial real estate agents. And in marketing, perception is important.
Steps to create & publish your Loan Broker Facebook Page
Before you can create your Facebook Business Page, you need to log into your personal Facebook account. Don’t worry—the information from your personal account will not be publicly visible on your business Page.
So, if you’re not already logged into your personal account, log in now, then dive into the steps.
Step 1: Create the Page
Go to facebook.com/pages/create.
Enter your business information in the panel on the left. As you do so, the page preview will update in real time on the right.
Page name: usually this is the name of your company. i.e. World's Best Commercial Real Estate Loan Broker (actually, we hope no one really used that name, it's terrible! 😆)
Category: unfortunately there is no ideal category (yet) for you as a commercial real estate loan broker, so you might want to pick a combination of: Mortgage Brokers, Loan Service, and Real Estate.
Description: here is where you can help people understand your speciality more. Counterintuitively, broad is boring (you look like too many other loan brokers) and specific is terrific. Specific targeting helps you show up at the top in search results as well. i.e. I help real estate investors needing not only financing for Investment & Commercial Properties, but expert advice in using other people's money to build their real estate portfolio and wealth. Let me help you find the best possible financing strategy and loans to fit that strategy, no matter if you are starting with your first single family rental, you're ready to move up to 5+ unit multifamily or other office, retail, warehouse & more, or your on your 25th commercial property.
Step 2. Add images
Next, you’ll upload a profile and cover images for your Facebook Page. Make sure the images you choose align with your brand and are easily identifiable with your business.
Click Add Profile Picture. If you have a logo, this is the location for it. If you are a single person broker, you could add your photo.
Now it’s time to choose your Facebook cover image, this image should capture the essence of your commercial mortgage loan broker business and convey your business personality. Note that research shows people gravitate towards images with people, so try to include people in your image. Once you’ve selected an appropriate image, click Add Cover Photo.
Step 3. Create your username
Your username can be up to 50 characters long. You want it to be easy to type and easy to remember. This is what is shown at the end of the URL to specific your page, i.e. facebook.com/yourusername
To create your username, click Create Username on the Page preview.
Enter the name you want to use. Facebook will let you know if it’s available. If you get a green checkmark, you’re good to go. Click Create Username.
Step 4: Add your brokerage details
While you might be tempted to leave the details for later, it’s important to fill out all of the fields in your Facebook Page’s About section right from the start. You can always come back and change it later as needed.
